What makes someone never give up? Is it their determination, their perseverance or a strong belief of themselves? It’s really all of the above. Are you missing any? What can you do to find it/them? Ever since I was a little girl, my father told me I could do anything I put my mind to. He told me that I had to believe in myself and to never, never, never give up. This saying goes a LONG way!I have persevered throughout my life on many different levels. I started out as an artist, wanting to have my first gallery show. I did what it took to make that happen. I went to school for it, I painted until I ran out of supplies and I created from my heart.
This peaked my curiosity in textile design.
Never having had one textile class, I landed a job designing textiles for a New York company…my first job out of college. I moved on to design scarves and three-dimensional products for people to wear. I had no training or background in this either, but I had the belief within myself that I could do it, never giving up until I found my true calling…what really made me happy.
As time went on, I expanded by creating full outfits for women to wear, once again never having taken a pattern making, sewing or design class. But I KNEW I had an innate talent and taste level. I traveled to “Premiere Vision” in Paris and around most of Europe, forecasting styles and colors, noting market trends. Yet, I was still searching for my happiness, never giving up until I found it.
Eventually I had the guts to start my own clothing line. I persisted and persevered, getting my wears into 75 stores around North America. Still, something was missing and I wasn’t willing to give up on myself. Designing made me happy on one level, but something was missing within my soul. Suddenly it hit me! I wanted to do something with people, one on one; something to heal them. Once I found health counseling, I knew I could incorporate everything I’ve learned together: Health, wellness, style and love, teaching people how to take care of themselves inside and out. What I found here is that I never gave up on happiness until it felt right for me.
The point I’m trying to make here is that you should never give up. Keep reinventing yourself and find the passion within you to create what you want in life. It’s an ongoing process that is ever changing and evolving. Be patient and kind. Follow your instincts because you only have this life! So do what it takes to make you truly happy and  never give up!
